What a Matchup!

What a Matchup!

What a Monday Night Game!  I would have enjoyed it even more if the sound/high def/Internet was working on my RCN cable.  Well that is just another reason Cable Companies are evil!  So I don’t know if I am more surprised of DeSean Jackson trowing the ball away before the goal line or the fact he went to college!  I have to go with his entrance into a institution of higher learning (especially getting into California University)!  Since he is a repeat offender of “TD Celebrations Before Actually Scoring Said TV and Subsequently Not Scoring Said TD” it really isn’t a contest.  Well even as hilarious as that was for non-Eagle fans, I would be worried if/when they play your team this year (See my Steelers in my Top Game this week).

There are a few teams I am going to watch week in and week out now:  Steelers, Eagles, Cowboys, Broncos, Chargers, Packers, Cardinals, and Saints.  The Steelers are my team since birth, the Eagles are resurgent and McNabb is back to top form (oh and have the best cheerleaders in the league), the Cowboys are an offensive/publicity juggernaut, the Broncos went from Run Dominance to Pass Happy, the Chargers are always fun to watch (and lose games in the last minute), Aaron Rodgers is good period (and his team is awesome), the Cardinals air assault is crazy talented, and the Saints have Reggie Bush and Drew Brees trying to make plays despite their defense.  If any of these teams miss my Top 10 from now on, feel free to let me have it.

You Dont Score Till You Score

You Don't Score Till You Score

So my picks from last week (after my edits) ended up being another 6-4.  I should have stuck with the Pats and Skins and I just missed on the Chargers.  Oh well, I am 12-8 through 2 weeks and we will continue to see how my picks turn out.

OK and on to my Week 3 Top 10 for the games on Sunday September 21st, as always all game times are EST.

  1. Steelers at Eagles - From $148 - 4:15 PM - Eagles 27 - 24.  The Battle of Pennsylvania will be in Philly for an afternoon affair.  For those of you not from the Keystone State, Pittsburghers and Philadelphians don’t like each other and each others teams.  The days of the Steagles are long gone when the two teams merged during World War II to stay afloat.  The last time the Steelers played in Philly during a regular season game they lost in overtime in a frustrating game.  I think this will be an interesting game to see how the Eagles react to the loss on Monday Night.  Plus if you are a Steelers fan you get to see cheerleaders this week!

    Run Fast on Sunday Willie

    Run Fast Willie in Philly

  2. Jets at Chargers - From $50 - 8:30 PM Monday Night - Chargers 28 - 20.  Without self idolized Brett Favre this game would be well below the radar and more people would be watching Heroes and How I Met Your Mother then making sure to catch the beginning of this game.  If All Time QB1 beats the Chargers on the road on a Monday Night the New York Press will love him, but if he goes down and throws some picks in this one, look out, because the New York Media won’t like the 1-2 start.
  3. Cowboys at Packers - From $102 - 8:15 PM - Cowboys 38 -  33.  The Boys head up north for a nice fall evening against the Pack.  Should be an interesting game and really should be a major test for Aaron Rogers.  I feel a lot of games will be up in the air this week because great teams are playing good teams on the road.  I don’t think the Cowboys will jump on the Packers like they did last year and there could be plenty of offensive fireworks.
  4. Jaguars at Colts - From $36 - 4:15 PM - Jags 20 -  17. The Jags visit the Oil Can for a big AFC South bout looking for their first win.  In division games usually the home team has the advantage, but in this one the Colts are still not completely healthy from their preseason injuries and the Jags are in a must win situation.
  5. Saints at Broncos - From $41 - 4:05 PM - Broncos 34 - 28.  So the Saints travel up a mile high to Denver to play the Broncos.  One team won last week at the end of the game and the other one lost last week giving the game away in the fourth quarter.  I am going with the home team and the momentum.  I think this could be another fun game to watch with plenty of scoring, apparently the Broncos love the pass now!
  6. Bengals at Giants - From $55 - 1:00 PM - Giants 42 -  16.  The Giants host the Bengals in one of the early games and probably your best bet to get a good deal on tickets in the Meadowlands for the Champs.  The Bengals are pretty much done and the Giants are looking solid to start the season.  Maybe the Super Bowl hangover won’t repeat itself this year.
  7. Cardinals at Redskins - From $20 - 1:00 PM - Cardinals 28 - 24.  Another AFC East team gets to host an early afternoon game.  Here is your early DC Beltway Traffic alert!!!  Don’t take the Beltway in Maryland from 10 AM to 1 PM.   So plenty to like about this game, might be a good opp for tickets and could be a great game for the Cardinals since the Redskins do give up some points.  This is the game where we see if the Cardinals are for real, I am a believer.

    Gotta love Boldin and Fitz!

  8. Panthers at Vikings - From $5 - 1:00 PM - Vikings 24 - 20.  Carolina gets back Steve Smith after his two game suspension.  What could be great news for the Panthers should not be as big a deal as the development of Jonathan Stewart.  The Vikings are in a must win situation and at home I think it happens. Hopefully Tavaris Jackson doesn’t kill the season in Week 3 for all the Viking fans.
  9. Browns at Ravens - From $50 - 4:15 PM - Ravens 17 - 14.  The East Coast has some great home games this week so if you are anywhere from Boston to DC you should be able to score some seats.  So after a improbable bye week due to Hurricane Ike, the Ravens will either be well rested or have lost some momentum.  The Brownies are struggling and showing they might not have taken that next step after all.  I am going to go with the Ravens (Basically their defense) at home in what should be a defensive battle and a fun tailgating day.
  10. Dolphins at Patriots - From $63 - 1:00 PM - Pats 24 - 14.  So the Pats are once again in the role of underdog of the century!  They love the “nobody believed in us” line and get an entire season to show it.  Great timing since the AFC East is still a very weak division, regardless of what Bills/Jets fans say.  Should be a great opp to get Pats tickets at a good price and enjoy a nice early fall game.
