So looks like USC is the real deal in college football. It is a shame that Ohio State had their touchdown called back in the first half. USC would have still won but it would have been more interesting. What I didn’t understand was why Tressel played Boeckman for 1st downs then had Terrelle Pryor come in for 2nd/3rd down. Why not give Pryor a whole series? If someone has a good reason I would love to hear it.
Well the Big Ten might be down this year, and Ohio State fans are going to hear “overrated” chants for a while. But there is a silver lining here for the Buckeyes. At least you don’t have to play in the National Championship Game this year. Hear me out on this one, losing another bowl game especially the National Championship would hurt the program more then help it. Winning a BCS game/New Years Day bowl will help set up a Terrelle Pryor sophomore season and another championship run. With Michigan looking pretty bad, Ohio State only has to worry about Penn State, Wisconsin, and Illinois (in that order). Since they have Penn State at home, the big test will be at Wisconsin and I think Illinois will get run over in a rematch game in Champaign. And for all the Big Ten fans hearing about a “weak” conference, there will be Two Big Ten Teams in BCS games this year. The SEC can complain about being a tougher conference, but by the rules there can only be a maximum of two teams per conference. The Big Ten travels well for Bowl games which means more money for sponsors. So don’t worry about the chatter, just enjoy the season and have fun, this is College Football and it isn’t life or death. It should be fun and when it isn’t anymore, maybe everyone should take a deep breath!
So about last weekends games, if anyone went to the Auburn/Miss. State game because of my recommendation, I don’t know if I should apologize or say “you’re welcome.” It was a close game at least for the Bulldogs and yes there was Zero offense, but you almost saw an enormous upset, so stick with me. I would like to give myself a big pat on the back for picking the Oregon/Purdue game. Seeing a great comeback and two overtimes live had to have been a lot of fun! I am a bit upset I missed the Maryland/Cal game and am excited for the Terps this season in a wide open ACC. I am fine with not picking the Wisconsin/Fresno State game even though the game was close at the end.
Also, is anyone else outraged that Charlie Weis compared himself to an athlete after he tore up his knee. You would think a football coach would have some ability to play some sport/game athletically. I know his athleticism didn’t give him the ability to play too many sports, but you would think he could have played something like Bowling or Golf where he at least had to walk around. How long do you think the crutches thing will last this season? I bet he is in some kind of chair on the sidelines over the next month. There is no way he sits in a box and calls the game, I think he/his ego loves to be seen on the field!
Here are my Week 4 top 10 games for Saturday September 20th (also Thursday September 18th!). All game times are EST as usual!
- Georgia at Arizona State

- 8:00 PM - From $75 - It will be interesting to see if ASU sneaks into the Top 10 for this game. Hopefully the Sun Devils can pull an upset like UCLA did against Tennessee. - Florida at Tennessee - 3:30 - From $138 - Almost every season these two teams battle it out for a very entertaining game, I am expecting more of the same.
- LSU at Auburn - 7:45 - From $129 - Tough away game for LSU, but it will be interesting to see if CBS makes this a late game.
- Miami at Texas A&M - 7:00 PM - From $45 - Miami will be looking to avenge the loss to A&M last season, this game will be on ABC so everyone will get a chance to watch.
- West Virginia at Colorado - 8:00 PM Thursday Sept. 18 - From $45 - The Mountaineers play two big Thursday Night games this year and this away game should be very intriguing. Both teams could get some momentum from a win here entering conference play.
- Alabama at Arkansas - 12:30 PM - From $50 - Another CBS decision on the game time and solid prices for tickets. I am banking on this being a day game and a good ole SEC bout.
- UCF at Boston College - 1:00 - From $5 - UCF has a few interesting games this season and I might be the only person who thinks they can upset a few teams this year. Obviously the Boston College faithful have other plans for the weekend selling their seats for $5.
- Notre Dame at Michigan St. - 3:30 PM - From $90 - After a loss on the road to Cal, Michigan State will need a big win at home against the Irish. The Spartans usually start seasons off strong and then tail off at the end. A loss here could begin that downswing pretty early.
- Rutgers at Navy - 3:30 PM - From $27 - Another under the radar game for a lot of people. I like the resurgence of Rutgers and Navy always competes well. Enjoy the day in Annapolis before and after the game, you will never regret it.
- Iowa at Pittsburgh - 12:00 PM - From $18 - Bargain Basement Special of the week (for Iowa fans!). An Iowa Alumni and friend of mine will attending this game and will definitely get a good deal on seats. Pitt usually has a hard time selling out games and if a unique match up with the Hawkeyes doesn’t sell out, I really don’t know what will.
